Q. I think I might be unwell. Can you see me as a ‘one-off’?
A. Yes. Sometimes worrying about having a mental health problem can be distressing. Screening and single session appoints are often available. Please email us to discuss further.

Q. Can I speak to someone before I make an appointment?
A. Of course. If we are engaged with other patients, please leave a message giving your name, telephone number and convenient times when we can call you back to discuss your needs.

Q. Do you see BUPA patients?
A. Dr Grewal is a registered provider with BUPA and AXA-PPP. Please bring along your membership number and authorisation number (if possible).

Q. Is there a cancellation fee?
A. If you are unable to attend your appointment please contact us within 7 days of your appointment. Where there is less notice a cancellation fee of £80 will be charged.

Q. I’m a solicitor. Do you do medico-legal work?
A. Yes. Dr Grewal is listed in the Law Society Directory of Expert Witnesses and is listed in the UK Register of Expert Witnesses (JS Publications). He has attended training days on report writing and speaking in court.  Reports can usually be completed within 7 days. Terms are available on request.

Q. What’s the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?
A. Psychiatrists are medical doctors with specific expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illnesses. Psychiatrists have attended medical school and prescribe medication in addition to undertaking ‘therapy’.

Psychologists focus mainly on psychotherapy and treating emotional and mental heath symptoms using their knowledge of normal psychological processes and development. They are not able to prescribe drugs; rather they specialise in helping people to understand control or modify their thoughts or behaviours.

Q. What guidelines does Harley Street Psychiatry follow?
A. We scrictly follow General Medical Council guidance in maintaining the highest professional standards. We work to evidence-based practice and offer our patients a choice of treatments. We adhere to the most recent NICE recommendations.

Q. How can I pay and can I pay securely online?
A. Yes, you can pay us securely online using Paypal. When booking your initial assessment you will be asked for your card details in order to confirm your appointment. Nothing will be charged to your card unless you cancel (see below). Every session is payable up to 48 hours in advance of the appointment. Your can use your credit/debit card paying for all appointments. Credit card details are stored on a secure database for use towards future appointments, outstanding charges, telephone advise, prescription and medical reports.
